Posted on Mar 9 2014 - 2:12pm

This month, the Scouts of Troop 9 set sail for Rhode Island to take part in a weekend adventure at the Newport Naval Base! There will be camping at Fort Adams State Park, which overlooks the harbor and is a nice camping spot. On Saturday morning we’ll head over to the base, where we’ll enjoy three square meals in the officer’s galley. Among the many things we’ll see include the Naval War College Museum, a tour of the Surface Warfare Officer School, as well a tour of an active-duty Coast Guard Cutter. During the day we’ll make time for a swim in the indoor base swimming pool, and at night we’ll go bowling at the base bowling alley.
